This camera dates from the 1930s and was manufactured in Germany by Zeiss Ikon. It is a vintage piece in very good condition that still works fine. The camera has metal frame covered by black faux leather; the bellow that moves the lens is made of the same material. The mobile pieces and component parts are made of silvery metal and are all quite well preserved, working softly and fluidly. The company Zeiss Ikon was founded in 1926 after the merger of four big photographic manufacturers, under the direction of Carl Zeiss from Jena. These four companies were Zeiss Jena, Heinrich Ernemann AG, ICA AG, C.P. Goerz AG from Berlín y Contessa-Nettel AG from Stuttgart. This powerful alliance turned the company into the most powerful camera producer in Europe. After World War II, Zeiss Ikon factories remained scattered in territories under different ideologies (Soviet, American) but kept on producing cameras, which generated a conflict for the use of the brand name. Eventually the communist factories changed their name and this was only maintained by the Zeiss Ikon AG from Stuttgart, that was closed in 1972.This fine camera is especially remarkable because of the excellent condition all its component parts and pieces are in. The lens is a NETTAR ANASTIGMAT 1:6,3 f=10,5 cm. The metal piece where the lens is inserted bears the manufacturers name, ZEISS IKON, engraved in the metal, as well as a monogram with a three-pointed star and the letters AGC inside a circle. The brand name is also printed in the faux leather covered frame, while inside the camera we can read the words ZEISS IKON FILM. The serial number HS6298 is also engraved at one side of the camera.Any lover of photography and charming vintage pieces will appreciate this great Zeiss Ikon cameras beauty and good condition.Measurements: Width: 16.2 cm/3 in. Height: 7.8 cm/6.2 in.
