Historic folding camera with un-pleated bellow made in Great Britain in 1910-20. This is a Goer Anschutz camera, a famous German design that was also produced in other countries such as Great Britain or Russia. This particular camera is a British version and we can read so in the inscription printed in red lettering inside the body: The British Anschutz Model A. The camera has dark brown leather-covered body, the same material the bellow is made of. It is a surprisingly compact and light piece for the time, features that turned it into a highly popular model especially among professional photographers. The Goer Anschutz camera was first introduced in 1890 and became an immediate success thanks to its light and compact design. In 1896 Goerz introduced a folding model with un-pleated bellow, just like the piece we are talking about. It was a mainly professional camera and was used by several of the British official photographers during World War I. The word Anschutz comes from Ottomar Anschütz, a German inventor and photographer who developed a revolutionary d 1/1000 of a second shutter, a component that we can see in this particular camera. Currently, the shutter operates. The speeds do not match, so it may need cleaning.Though this piece is well preserved and keeps all its original component parts, in order to provide a perfect working order it needs some fine-tuning. The shutter must be checked and adjusted and the top circular viewer does not stand safely. Nevertheless, the camera works and keeps all the charm and the beauty provided by its great design and ancient age. The lens is a COOKE AVIAR f=4,5 with serial number 75468, in good condition and working order. This cameras excellent design, history and attractive look turn it into the perfect piece to complete a great collection.Measurements: Width: 16 cm.
