This impressive stereoscopic camera is a device known as Le Glyphoscope, made in France circa 1904. The camera comes in its original leather case and is in an almost impeccable condition. It works like the first day and all its pieces and component parts are original. The camera is made of enameled metal and keeps its original finish very well preserved, and also the objectives, the eyepieces and the glass parts. It comes with five glass plates. Le Glyphoscope is a stereoscopic camera developed by French engineer Jules Richard in the late 19th century. This camera was launched in 1904 and kept on being produced until the beginning of the 1930s. It can be transformed into a stereo viewer by removing the shutter panel, in order to view printed plates. Jules Richard was also responsible for the development of some measurement systems, like the dynamometers, speedometers and barometers which bear his name. This particular piece has the number 210 printed in white lettering at the front, beside a star-shaped logo with the initials RF and the word PARIS. At the back we can see the following inscription: LE GLYPHOSCOPE BREVETE SGDG J, RICHARD - A PARIS. The cameras name is also engraved in the leather case. We can also see the serial number 6169 engraved in the metal sheet. On the other hand, the leather case is quite well preserved thought the leather shows signs of the trace of time and use. Nevertheless the seams are all right and so is the strap. The original lock is still in working order. This amazing original glyphoscope is bound t provide its owner with many pleasant moments thanks to its great attractive and good working order.
