Fine French stereo camera original from the early 20th century and in quite good condition. This curious device is designed to reproduce photographic images on glass plates through the two lenses mounted at the front and with the help of the glass viewfinder located at the top. This is the model Nil Melior, a camera designed and commercialized by the French company Macris-Boucher during the first decades of the century. The camera was launched under the motto the perfection in photography, and the manufactured also published a 14-page booklet about this model: Le Nil Melior: la perfection en photographie. The models name, NIL MELIOR, is clearly engraved and enameled in white at the front of the camera. It is accompanied by the inscription BTÉ. S.G.D.G. The front lenses bear the name of the manufactured, SAPHIR BOYER PARIS, and also show the magnification number (1:4.5) and the serial number of each one, 26080 and 25332 respectively. At the top of the camera we can see a circular metal plate with the models name and the manufacturer: NIL MELIOR MACRIS-BOUCHER PARIS. This nice cameras metal case is solid and simple, composed of different components attached by chromed screws. The article preserves all its original devices and pieces in perfect working order. The glass viewfinder is also the original one and shows clearly the two red perpendicular lines bound to mark the central point of the image and to keep the camera leveled. In front of the viewfinder there is a small device composed of a vertical rod with a ring on top, through which the photographer can find easily the central point of the viewfinder.
