This amazing stereoscopic camera is a rare and attractive piece, made in France in the early 20th century. In spite of being more than one hundred years old, the camera is very well preserved and comes in its leather case with six original plates from the era. It is a Stéréo-Panoramique Leroy, a very ingenious camera that can produce images in different plate formats. In its day this camera was a real success and the model kept on being produced for a long time thanks to its high quality and great versatility. The Stéréo-Panoramique Leroy is named after its inventor, Lucien Leroy. Leroy was one of the engineers responsible for the great renown of the turn-of-the-century French technology and well into the 1930s. Among his inventions are quite relevant designs such as the electrical impulse distributor that he developed in 1894 together with Charles Bazin, or the surprising pocket telegraph that he designed for military use. Later on, Leroy acquired a factory that belonged to Bazin (who in turn had bought it from the engineer and inventor Charles Dessoudeix) and transformed it in a successful factory of high precision cameras. The Stéréo-Panoramique is a quality camera that was the first in producing both 6 x 6 cm stereoscopic images and 6 x 13 cm panoramic views. This particular camera bears a metal plate with the models name and the engraved serial number: 9320. The objectives are two Anastigmat-Dagor models, made in Berlin and with serial numbers 350598 and 350656 respectively. The left objective can be moved following a circular path in order to adjust the size of the images to produce. Its rare quality and ancient age turn this camera into a piece worthy of belonging to the most complete collection of antique cameras.Measurements: Width: 15.5 cm. Height: 7.5 cm.
