This attractive vintage camera is a Contarex 1 made by Zeiss Ikon in Germany in 1964. This is a high-quality camera, in very good condition and working perfectly. It has an aluminum case with the bottom part made of black faux-leather-finished plastic. Both materials are in excellent condition. It mounts a Carl Zeiss Planar 1:2 f=50 mm lens with serial number 3248827. At the top of the camera we can see the pieces own serial number: Z 19884. The camera has also an integrated photometer that its working conditions. The Contarex is a 35 mm camera that Zeis Ikon launched in 1959, though it was not generally available until March 1960. It was the companys contribution to professional photography and was designed to perform any photographic task. Zeiss Ikon was created in 1926 after several camera makers merged and powerful Zeiss provided the capital. The company was part of the Carl Zeiss Foundation; the other part was the optical company Carl Zeiss Jena. At the front of this camera we can see the brand name Contarex engraved to the left of the lens. To the right is the manufacturers logo with the companys name, Zeiss Ikon, also present at the back of the case together with the inscription Made in Germany. The camera also has a solar filter that protects the lens and can be screwed to the front of this piece. All the cameras settings and devices work perfectly and remain in magnificent condition. This woderful Contarex camera is an iconic model that will let its owner take the most beautiful photographs.
