This amazing Antique camera is a Sanderson Regular model, a turn-of-the-century piece in wonderful condition. The camera was manufactured in London in the early 20th century and keeps all its component parts and accessories. Though it has not been tested with plates, it is in working order and all its devices are operative. It comes in its original leather case; the set includes two chassis for the plates, a tripod and a release leather knob. The knob is not in working order but it is part of the cameras original equipment and is basic to keep the item complete. At the cameras front side, just over the lens we can see a small white metal plate with the inscription THE SANDERSON CAMERA H. LTD. LONDON. These words indicate that the camera corresponds to the design created by Herbert Sanderson, with the Universal Swing Front typical of these items. Sanderson cameras were made by Holmes Brothers, Islington. H. Ltd letters stand for Houghtons Ltd., a company created in 1904 after the merger of Holmes Brothers and G. Houghton & Son. As for the inventor, Herbert Sanderson, he was a cabinetmaker and stone carver with a great interest for architecture. As he could not find a camera that would suit his needs, he decided to design his own model. With the trace of time, his cameras became highly popular. The camera that we can see in the photos bears another brass plate beneath the lens with the engraved model name: REGULAR MODEL. One of the bellows brass components shows the serial number 16362 and the inscription SANDERSON PATENT. The camera mounts a Busch Detective Aplanat Nº 3 Foc 7 Ins objective, original from the period and in good condition. The front side, the base and the lid are made of solid mahogany wood, beautiful and sturdy. The red leather bellow and the black-leather covered body remain in amazing condition too. Highly decorative and truly original, this Sanderson camera is a real jewel for any collection of photo-related antiques. Measurements: Width: 9.8 in / 25 cm. Height: 2.7 in / 7 cm.
