Ultra Rare Scovill Mfg. Co Outfit. Two Types of Lens. Museum Condition, 1885This turn-of-the-century camera is a very special piece, quite rare and hard to find.It's a Scovill Field Camera and also with the interchangeable Field Camera Stero Waterbury Lens, both in mit condition and together with the field tripod and original wooden case.It was made by Scovill Manufacturing Co in arond 1885. This camera is in amazing condition and comes with its original wooden case and tripod. It works fine and keeps all its accessories. The original translucent glass is broken but this detail does not interfere with the operation of the camera. Moreover, it can be easily changed. The camera was made by Scovill Manufacturing Co., one of the biggest manufactured and supplier of photographic material in the USA during the 19th century.Scovill Manufacturing Co. Was founded as Abel Porter & Co. In 1802. It was based in Waterbury, Connecticut. In the early days of photography it began making silver-plated copper sheets for daguerreotype imaging, as well as other photographic goods. Scovill was the second largest jobbing trade company for photography supply in the U.S.A. . In 1871 it bought American Optical Co. . The budget versions of American Optical's cameras were sold under the Scovill brand. In 1889 one leading officer of Scovill bought the company and named it Scovill & Adams. In 1902 it was merged with the largest U.S. distributor, E. & H.T. Anthony. Together they were Anthony & Scovill.The beautiful camera that we can see in the images has light mahogany wooden body with different wooden pieces connected by brass metalwork. Both materials are in quite good condition; this fact turns the camera into a highly decorative antique. The black-leather bellows is also perfectly preserved. As for the lenses, they are the original ones and bear the brand and manufacturer name engraved in the brass, WATERBURY LENS Scovill Mfg. Co. NEW YORK, with their respective serial numbers: 113500, 125512 and 125334. The user can easily change the lenses and use the camera to take standard or stereoscopic photos.So rare and very special, this impressive photo camera is a real museum piece that any collector will long to own.Measurements: Width: 11.1 in / 30 cm.
