Beautiful antique bellows camera in good condition and in working order. It is a field camera designed to be carried and take photographs in situ. It is a foldable compact model, easy to carry and to use. The camera was made in Geneva, Switzerland in the late 19th century (circa 1890) and has survived to our days in excellent condition. The housing is made of solid mahogany wood; the dark red bellows is the original one and so are the objective and the brass metalwork. The objective is adjustable and the camera comes with one chassis. At the front side of the camera we can see a small white plate with the name of the manufacturing company and city of location: RAUSER & CO FABRICANTS GENÉVE. The mahogany wooden planks that make up the housing are carefully cut in order to achieve a perfect fitting. The corners show tiny delicate dovetail joints that provide the case with sturdiness. The connection between the base plank and the front side is reinforced by two brass L-shaped pieces, screwed to the cameras sides. The hinges, the objective, the handle and the rest of the cameras metalwork are also made of golden brass. The metal is in amazing condition, with no traces of rust and boasting an even and shiny look. The translucent glass located at the back of the camera is also original and remains complete. The camera can be folded so it becomes a discreet and stylish wooden briefcase, perfecto to be easily carried so its owner can use the camera anywhere. Because of its excellent condition and intrinsic beauty, this field camera will shine in a great collection of photo-related antiques. Measurements: Width: 15.5 in / 38.5 cm. Height: 12.1 in / 31 cm.
