This gorgeous antique camera is a model known as field camera as it can be folded to a smaller size, creating an easy-to-carry set. The camera is original from the late 19th century (circa 1890) and preserves all its component parts. The objective, the rear glass and the metalwork are original, and together with the bellows and the wooden housing make up a lovely camera in working order. The great condition all the components are in is powerfully remarkable and turns this camera into a fantastic decorative item. The bellows is made of black leather, flexible and resistant. It is in great condition, with no worn or torn parts. This piece is connected to two wooden frames: one is fixed to the wooden base, and the other slides over two rails fixed to this same base. The mahogany pieces that make up the item are in optimal condition and show different shades of brown, lighter and darker, creating a wonderful combination. The rear frame preserves the original translucent glass pane; it is broken but it can be easily changed if desired. The cameras front side is connected to the wooden base by two L-shaped brass pieces screwed to its sides. The rest of the metalwork are made of brass too and remain in good condition. The objective is connected to a wooden piece that can be put in the cameras front by inserting it between two rails. It is a very antique piece and bears the inscription OBTURATEUR IRIS UNIVERSEL engraved in one cylinder. The lens is the original one and is perfectly preserved. Strikingly beautiful and original from the period, this field camera will stand out in an elegant study or a showcase full of quality antiques. Measurements: Width: 15.3 in / 39.5 cm. Height: 5.2 in / 15 cm.
