Stereoscope Stereoscovi, 1920.

Antique Stereoscovi Manual Stereoscope with Various Stereoscopic Crystals of The Life of Jesus, manufactured Paris in the 1920's. Small wooden stereoscope in very good condition both aesthetically and functionally. The apparatus appears perfectly placed on one side of a nice and original blue leather case, accompanied by the different stereoscopic crystals distributed in two lines. The case opens lengthwise by means of a small clasp on the front. When closed, the upper part is engraved in gold lettering with the trademark of the device: ESTEREOSCOVI, PARIS. As can be seen in the attached images, the stereoscopic crystals represent the Life of Jesus from the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary, to the Crucifixion and Resurrection. Each of the stereoscopic crystals presents two photographs. They are numbered and bear the manufacturer's mark on a vertical line between the two images: Editions Stereoscovi Deposé. The photographs depict the various scenes from the life of Jesus with marked signs of passion, and attempt the most plausible recreations on the part of the representatives. The smallest details are taken care of, not only the scene represented by the protagonists, but also the secondary characters and the scenery. There are 98 crystals out of 100 that the collection originally had. They are distributed in an orderly manner inside the case, which allows a better preservation of them. This fantastic device also attaches the original instructions in French, with the explanation of the images of the stereoscopic crystals, even with the verses that represent each one of them!
