Genuine Leica Camera Model II C. Manufactured in Germany between 1948 and 1951. It is a 100% original piece. Beautiful aesthetically, in silver metal with black leather protector, practically new. Engraved mark on the top: Leica and serial number: 442149. Ernst Leitz lens, Wetzlar, 1:2 f= 5 cm, serial number 683 768. Attached original brown leather case with engraved mark in very good condition. It is in perfect condition both aesthetically and functionally. The chrome plating is shiny even in the most worn areas. The camera body is also impeccable despite the time elapsed. This camera works, although it has not been serviced with film. The well-known brand of German photographic cameras began producing these fantastic devices as early as 1913. The company, first called Ernst Leitz GmbH, was divided into three companies: Leica Camera AG, producing cameras; Leica Geosystems AG, producing equipment for geology; and Leica Microsystems GmbH, responsible for the production of microscopes. The Leica camera was the first practical 35-millimeter model of photographic camera. The first prototypes were built by Oskar Barnack at E. Leitz Optische Werke, Wetzlar, in 1913. This camera was an immediate success when it was introduced in 1925 in Leipzig, dubbed the Leica I (for LEI-tz CA-mera). The compactness of the camera, and its reliable and excellent lens, made this device a real success. Leica II did not appear until 1932, with the innovation of attaching a rangefinder to the lens. The Leica II c was introduced in 1948 and it is difficult to find it with a sharkskin cover like this example. This camera is the same as the IIIc but without the slow speed. The basic differences are that on the II c model the speed can go up to 1 / 500 (versus 1 / 1000 on the IIIc model) and there is no separate speed dial for the slow speeds. Very special and hard to find Leica camera in such a good condition!
