Amazing Antique Pathe Baby Projector made in France in the 1920's. This fantastic film reproduction device is in good mechanical, smooth and unhindered working order. It has not been electrically tested. It includes an original film. This is a very beautiful piece aesthetically, of small dimensions, with black lacquered casing. Completely original, with a small back plate with the mark: PATHÉ, made in France, which attests to its French origin. On one of the sides there is a beautiful golden dial with the characteristic Pathé mark of the rooster. Attached wooden case with red felt interior and brass hardware, which allows to place all the parts in a perfectly distributed way and thus protect the device. It also has a top handle for easy transport. It is a genuine silent film projector completely restored and working. It is the original apparatus of the inventor Charles Pathé, Pathé-Baby model, so called because of its small dimensions. The mechanics have been disassembled and cleaned with special products so as not to damage it, achieving a smooth and mechanically intact operation. The motor has an on / off switch to turn it on and off, and a speed control. Part designed for 110 to 115 volts, which does not meet current safety standards. The optics for focusing are smooth and the lens is clear. Charles Pathé was born into a modest family of German shepherd origin in 1863. In 1894, he happened to attend an audition of Edison's phonograph. He was extremely impressed by the device and, after borrowing the money, he bought a phonograph, soon setting up a business selling phonographic cylinders and kinetoscopes, so fashionable in France in those years. After the success of his small phonograph company, he partnered with his brother Émile and founded the film company Phaté Fréres in 1896. Charles would focus on cinema, becoming in a short time the most important silent film entrepreneur, taking his company's icon, the famous rooster, all over Europe and the rest of the planet. Charles Pathé was the pioneer in the industrialization of cinema in France. In his films he applied a formula to attract all types of spectators, and with it he achieved an incredible worldwide success. In 1921 he developed the first miniature projector, where one could see films in the family circle of the well-known Pathé repertory. It consisted of a projector of reduced dimensions with all the accessories to be able to enjoy the films of the Charles Pathé brand with a duration of 1.5 minutes. This type of apparatus was in operation from 1920 to 1960. The film was exhibited in 16 frames per second, for silent format. Charles Pathé originally intended the Pathé Baby as a simple projector which, due to imminent success, produced an increasing number of rental and purchase films. Original films were copied to 9.5 mm for this device, distributing such well-known titles as "Nibelungen", "Metropolis" and various films by Charlie Chaplin, Max Linder and Harold Lloyd.
