Gorgeous antique stereoscopic viewer made in France circa, 1900, in outstanding condition and with a complete charger containing 50 photographs on glass plates. The viewer is built in a solid mahogany wooden case, very well preserved: the surface keeps the original French-polish finish that provides the wood with a warm satin glow and enhances its beautiful reddish tone. The viewer makes it possible to view photos on glass plates or cardboard frames thanks to the top mirrors it mounts. It includes a mechanical lens system; the lenses are greatly preserved too. The excellent condition the viewer makes it possible to view clearly the plates included. It is a set of very interesting photographs where the 3D effect created by stereoscopic view can be perfectly appreciated. The lenses are located at the top of the viewer, mounted on a black plastic structure. Under them we can see the original lock and key in working order; they can be operated to open the top part of the casing and introduce or remove the plate charger. On both sides of the device we can see silvery-metal handles, decorated with fine engraved motifs. The knobs that enable the user to move the photographs and focus the view are also located on both sides. The chargers knobs (though they are mounted on the charger, after introducing the charger into the casing they remain outside) are somewhat worn and have lost part of the original black paint, but they remain in operation and do not interfere in the devices good look. The plate charger is a black-dyed wooden structure with an engraved mark containing the initials PMF. This structure supports a wire framework which holds the plates; the rotating axe makes it possible to change the plates in order to view them successively, thanks to an ingenious and simple mechanism. Evocative and charming, this antique stereoscopic viewer for 13x6 plates will stand out in the best collection of photo-related antiques. Measurements: Width: 8.8 in / 22cm. Depth: 8.8 in / 22cm.
