Decorative domestic projector made in France in 1930. It is a Pathé-Baby model, beautiful and elegant, designed to project 9,5mm films. This striking article is in good condition though it does not work properly, as it is jammed and the crank cannot be turned. Nevertheless it can be mended and adjusted to recover its functionality. The projector comes with an original film reel. It is made of black-lacquered iron and is full of all the charm typical of vintage cinematographic machines from the early 20th century. This piece is a real collectors item. The projector shows a stylish design, standing on an iron base with four small curved legs. It is solid and sober, and on one of its sides we can see the glass circular door where the film reel must be inserted. The silvery crank which makes it work is located just on top of the glass door, and it is meant to turn the reel so the film slides between the light and the lens. On the other side there is a smart circular metal plate with the name of the manufacturing company (Pathé) and the logo (a cock singing) engraved in the metal. There is also an inscription which says: ETS CONTINSOUZA CONSTRUCTEURS BREVETÉ EN TOUS PAYS. The projector keeps the original electrical wires which provide the bulb with electricity and all the original pieces needed to make it work. Pathé was a French firm which was formerly called Société Pathé Frères. It was founded in Paris in 1896, and in the early 20th century was the most important film company in the world. It also commercialized phonographs and gramophones. Pathé-Baby system was launched in 1922 thanks to a number of 9,5mm projectors just like this one. Pathé-Baby projectors became highly popular in the first half of the 20th century. Measurements: 195 mm width x 325 mm height.
