Lovely British folding or bellow camera in very good condition, a real jewel from the first times of photographic art. The camera is made of solid tropical wood and dates from 1890. The time appears not to have passed through it, as it is in excellent condition and looks as wonderful as when it was originally purchased. The release is not in working order so this camera is mainly a decorative piece. Nevertheless it is still an antique and valuable item and a witness to the history of photography.Just over the brass lens we can see a small round white plate embedded in the wood. The plate bears the following inscription: TIME THORNTON PICKARD PATENT. This means that the cameras shutter is a TIME model made by Thornton-Pickard, a famous British camera manufacturer founded in Manchester in 1888 by Edward Thornton and Edgar Pickard. This company was an early pioneer in the development of the photographic industry. The brass lens beside the plate is very well preserved and bears fine and elegant engraved inscriptions. The camera keeps all its original parts in really good condition, both the wooden pieces and the bellow and brass elements. The lens is intact and the mobile metal pieces are also very well preserved. It has the engraved serial number 40764. The wood boasts a beautiful reddish tone, enhanced by the warm satin finish that protects it. The brass components show no traces of rust, scratches or flaws. The camera can be folded and unfolded just like the first day of use.The beauty and timeless elegance of this jewel from the 19th century turn it into a highly decorative and aesthetical item, perfect to stand out in a charming room.Measurements: Width: 220 mm.
