Striking folding or bellow camera with field tripod, made in 1890. The camera is in a really exceptional condition and does not look like being more than one hundred years old. It works perfectly too and could be used to take photographs just when it was made. The camera comes with three plates for two photos each and keeps also the original towrope to operate the release. This camera is undoubtedly a first-class decorative piece; it also works perfectly, and this fact turns it into a charming a valuable article.The camera is made up of solid tropical wood pieces, highly beautiful and in very good condition. Their deep red color is enhanced by the nice glow of the finish that covers and protects them. The wooden planks are assembled by nice dovetail joints, very strong and attractive. The brass parts (reinforcements, screws, knobs and lens) look neat and shiny, in wonderful condition. The lens bears the serial number 21034 engraved in the metal.The field tripod that comes with the camera is made of beech wood and is also a fine piece. It is made up of several pieces that can be folded and unfolded, and are assembled by nickel metal pieces. Both the wood and the metal are very well preserved. The three legs have metal plates with the engraved inscription CONTESSA NETTEL, something that indicates that the tripod was made by Contessa-Nettel AG, a firm founded in Stuttgart (Germany).Any lover of photography and antique cameras will be delighted with this stunning folding camera, a real museum piece from the end of the 19th century.Measurements: Width: 220 mm.
