This Leica IIIa camera is a classic piece of the 20th century photography, a real icon because of its quality and the brands prestige. This particular model is the model IIIa, was made in 1935 and is in very good condition, and so is the original leather case that comes with it. The camera was made by German company Ernst Leitz Wetzlar and is in almost impeccable condition: the silvery metal looks shiny and polished, and the black faux leather covering is also perfectly preserved.Leica is a benchmark in the field of photography: great 20th century artists and photo journalists such as Alexander Korda or Robert Kappa used a Leica camera to immortalize moments that have become icons of contemporary history. The prototypes were designed and built in 1913 by Oskar Barnack, an engineer working for Ernst Leitz Optische Werke (Wetzlar, Germany). In 1924 the first cameras were produced and launched under the brand Leica, an acronym of Leitz Camera. The rest is just history As stated before, the camera comes in its original dark brown leather case. This piece is in good condition and bears the Leica logo engraved at the front, and the name of the company, Leitz Wetzlar, at the bottom. On top of the camera we can see the serial number 156326 engraved in the metal together with the logo and the manufacturers name. The camera is in perfect working order and can be use to take quality photographs just like when it was made, but if you want to use it for this purpose, we would recommend a thorough cleaning by a professional, to insure that the objective is completely free of dust or particles, because it has not been tested with film. This lovely vintage camera will delight any photo enthusiast who appreciates classic quality pieces.
