Gorgeous Mantel Clock. Gilt and Patinated Bronze. France, 19th Century

Gorgeous mantel clock made of gilt and patinated bronze, made in France in the 19th century and accompanied by two candlesticks. The set shows a great sculptural design with a patina-finished bronze cherub embracing the clock, while two similar-material kids support the stems of the chandelier. The three pieces stand on dark-pink marble rectangular foots, finely preserved. The gilt bronze clock shows a sober and straight design, counterbalanced by a fine figure of a rooster crowning the box. It contains a wind-up 7-day Paris movement which strikes the hours and the halves, in fine working order. The white porcelain dial is signed by J. Gudin and mounts Louis XV hands. The candlesticks are slim and stylized; the figures’ patina show some slight signs of wear, scarcely appreciable and which do not interfere in the beautiful look of this great set.

This gorgeous mantel clock in gilt and patina-finished bronze is a piece of undeniable artistic value, ideal to provide the most special dining room with a touch of style.
