This is a spectacular copy of the famous picture The Prince Baltasar Carlos on a Horse, painted by Diego de Velázquez and currently part of the collection of the Prado Museum. Height: 45.2 in / 115 cm.History of the picture The Prince Baltasar Carlos on a horse The Prince Baltasar Carlos on a horse is an oil picture painted by Diego de Velázquez in 1635. It is currently exposed in the Prado Museum. The history of this portrait starts when Felipe IV orders Velazquez a series of equestrian portraits to be shown in the Room of Kingdoms of the Palace of the Good Retire. Between the portraits of Felipe IV and Isabel of Borbón there was a gap (just over the rooms door) and they decided to hang a portrait of the prince Baltasar Carlos, also riding a horse but smaller in size. The most relevant part of the picture is surely the boys portrait, considered a master work of art of all times.
