Öfverström inherited his ancestors talent and showed it in his pictorial works and also in other crafts such as furniture decoration. The painter studied at The Valand School of Fine Arts under the guidance of the well-known Swedish painter Birger Simonsson. He belonged to the Rebel Idealist School of Turku and in 1965 he was given the National Paint Award, something that testifies for his works quality. Öfverströms paint can be found in relevant European museums such as the Valands State Museum Galery, the Gothenburg Art Gallery, the Museum of History and the Museum of Modern Art of Stockholm, and the Ville of Paris Museum.
