Stylish and functional antique portable graphoscope, made in the USA in 1883, in a museal state, as new and in perfect condition and working order. This lovely apparatus, known as The Stereo-Graphoscope, is used to watch stereoscopic photographs with the curious depth-effect that generates this technique, and at the same time, it can be used as a magnifying glass. Do not confuse this device with a classic stereoscope although the external appearance is similar. It boasts an amazing design, modern and simple, and is a beautiful and functional item. It comes with a set of 22 stereoscopic cardboard photographs with portraits of turn-of-the-century nudes. These are reproductions of antique images, full of charm and sensuality. The device is made of mahogany and cherry wood, with golden brass pieces and preserving the original lenses. Differently from standard stereoscopic viewers, this graphoscope can also be used as a magnifying glass. In order to do so, the user only has to turn the metal lens holders. The instructions to use the graphoscope are clearly described in the accompanying paper sheet; this sheet is also original and remains in good condition. The lightwood stand where the instrument is mounted is double duty. On one hand, it makes it possible to hold the graphoscope and use it as a magnifier or to watch photographs; and on the other, it can also be put on a table. One of the wooden pieces bears the apparatuss name, THE STEREO-GRAPHOSCOPE, fire-engraved in its surface and with the international patents too. The brass piece that connects the mobile handle to the stand also bears an engraved date: JULY 24 1883 together with the word PATENTED. Perfect to view antique photographs and as a decorative item, this antique graphoscope is a collectors piece, rare and very attractive.
