Antique French Hefsen a Paris Verge Fusee Pocket Watch. France, Ca. 1790

Antique French Hefsen a Paris verge-fusee watch made in France circa 1790, with hand-painted dial and in working order. With a simple and original design, this watch stands out for its lovely aesthetic: the porcelain dial has a hand-painted pastoral motif depicting a woman to the left and a sheep to the right. They are both on a rural landscape, occupying a central band and over a lilac garland; in front of them, a central circle contains the black Arab numerals. The watch mounts gilt-metal Breguet hands. The case is made of non-decorated silver and has some hallmarks inside, somewhat worn. If we open it we will appreciate the beautiful ancient movement, with the watchmaker’s name, Hefsen A PARIS, engraved by hand.
