Antique M. Berger Verge-Fusee Pocket Watch with Enamel. Switzerland, Circa 1780
Very antique M. Berger verge-fusee pocket watch with enamel, made in Switzerland circa 1780 and in good working order. Though being more than 200 years old, the watch is finely preserved and remains a charismatic and functional item. The case is made of gilt metal, with the front cap adorned with fine hand-engraved motifs framing the glass. But surely, the most attractive part of the case is the rear cap, decorated with a colorful hand-painted enameled scene in which a Roman soldier courts a young woman by a classic pillar. The watch’s dial is white, with Roman numerals and Louis-XV golden hands. Inside the case, the fine movement bears the hand-engraved watchmaker’s signature, M. Berger from the Swiss village of Brün.
For its delicate decoration and fine performance, this antique M. Berger verge-fusee pocket watch with enamel is perfect to become part of a collection of exclusive timepieces.
