Antique J. Miller Verge-Fusee Pocket Watch. 2 Gilt-Silver Cases. London, England, 1766
Very antique J. Miller verge-fusee pocket watch with 2 gilt-silver cases, made in London, England in 1766. This beautiful timepiece is more than 250 years old, but it works fine and remains in good overall condition. It has two cases, both made of gilt silver, and signed-by-hand movement with the serial number 15326 engraved in one of its component parts. The outer case shows a fine hand-engraved decoration, with a scene in the rear cap which shows a figure kneeling in front of another in an offering attitude. The gilt finish of the outer case is somewhat worn. The inner case preserves the gilt finish in much better condition: inside the rear cap we can see some hallmarks, among them the English silver mark and the one for the year 1766. Last but not least, the white porcelain dial with black Roman numerals and gilt Louis XV hands is in excellent condition in spite of its ancient age.
This antique J. Miller verge-fusee pocket watch with 2 gilt-silver cases is a lovely collector’s piece, still functional.
