Founded in Triberg (Germany) in 1923 by Benedikt Schwer, in the beginning it was a clock manufacturer. Later they started making radios too and soon after the brand became a record label too. One of their landmarks was the launchin of the first radio receiver with search and automatic fine tuning in all bandwidths. Moreover, in 1958 the company presented the first TV receiver in the IFA show in Berlin. In 1968 SABA sold most of the company to GTE, an American telephone firm. In 1980 it was acquired by Thomson S.A. as a separate business branch.
