Antique Indian Mughal or Khanjar dagger with polychrome carved lion, made circa 1900 and well preserved. This beautiful weapon stands out for its amazing handle, with a hand-carved lion head at the end. It is holding a small dark gazelle in its jaws; the gazelle, the lions face and its manes are carefully carved and show a remarkable attention to detail. All the handle is decorated with polychrome gold leaves, with a fine print composed of small red tulips. The decoration is somewhat worn by the trace of time and shows some small flaws, but it still preserves its original beauty and charm. The blade is adorned with inlay gold vegetal motifs, slightly worn but still complete, and a carved spine. It remains in good condition, with no traces of rust and a uniform and clean edge. This superb antique Indian Mughal or Khanjar dagger with polychrome carved lion is an exclusive piece, gorgeous and imposing. Dimensions: Blade Length: 14 in / 21.5 cm. Total Length: 8.46 in / 35.5 cm.
