Very antique and primitive German saber sword, made in Passau, Germany circa 1650. This is one of the first sabers ever forged in the world, a type of sword which started being made in the 17th century, especially in Germany. Very few of them have survived to our days, so we are looking at an exclusive, rare and very special piece. The saber which can be seen in the photographs is made of steel and has a slightly curved blade. It is a model for infantry officers with wallone-type guard, with its signature perforations. The hilt is complex and beautiful, with curved designed to protect the wearers hand, tapered grip and ball-shaped pommel. The blade has an engraved mark which depicts the schematic figure of a wolf. This mark was used for some time in Passau, though it was also adopted by the sword makers of Solingen and some other German cities. This very antique and primitive German saber from Passau is a magnificent piece which any collector of historic weapons will long to own. Dimensions: Blade Length: 30.70 in / 78 cm. Total Length: 30.70 in / 93 cm.
