Antique saber-sword Revolution officer known as miner sword, made in France in 1790 and in fine condition. It is a model used by the French Revolutionary Volunteer Infantry Officers, but being a model created during the last years of the ancien regime (just before the French Revolution). This sword is also known as miner saber or Small Montmorency, as in the beginning it was given to six revolutionary infantry regiments composed of miners. Later the model was adopted by other regiments and was even used in the Restoration. The sword is gorgeous and mounts a non-decorated steel blade and brass hilt with the guard composed of curved quillons, elegant and simple. The dark grip is original from the time and keeps the twisted wire in perfect condition. The scabbard which protects the blade is finely preserved, made of black leather and with the original brass locket and chape. Any collector of old-time weapons will appreciate the ancient age and the history of this antique saber-sword Revolution officer known as miner sword, original from the French Revolution.
