Napoleonic Light-Cavalry Officer Sword, Mod. AN IX. France, Circa 1810

Antique light-cavalry officer saber-sword model AN IX, made in France circa 1810 and in very good condition. This is a beautiful weapon, with its original steel scabbard and an elegant brass and wooden hilt. The steel blade is greatly preserved and shows remains of a fine engraved decoration, just by the cross-guard. The brass hilt covers half the grip and divides in three wavy quillons which end at the cross-guard. This part has an almond-shaped piece which fits with the scabbard. The grip is made of solid wood and leather and preserves the original twine, tight and in good condition. The scabbard is well preserved too, showing the patina created by the trace of time and the use and some slight dent. These details are logical in such an ancient weapon, which surely hides a fascinating past.

As fine-looking as authentic, this superb light-cavalry officer saber model AN XI is an exclusive item which any collector will long to possess.
