Gorgeous Universal Geneve Polerouter de Luxe Wristwatch. 18K Gold. Switzerland, 1950s

Gorgeous Universal Geneve Polerouter de Luxe 18K gold automatic wristwatch, made in Switzerland in the 1950s. This stylish watch is 34 mm in diameter, pink-gold case and movement with 28 rubies, caliber 218-9 and micro rotor. This piece displays the classic elegance of mid-century designs, with their simple and balanced lines and a great election of materials and colors. The dial is made of gilt metal and preserves the original acrylic-glass pane in fine condition. It mounts stylized triangular metal hands and has the manufacturer’s name, logo and model at the 12 position. The crown bears the embossed brand logo, a capital U. If we remove the rear cap, inside we will find the manufacturer’s mark and the 18K gold mark with the gold proportion, 0.750. The movement is wonderfully preserved and is a real beauty, with engraved golden inscriptions with details about its characteristics. We can also see the micro rotor, the part which makes it possible to wind automatic watches, which in this case is particularly small and characteristic of this model. The strap of real leather has been renewed, but its quality and great mahogany color make a perfect match with the watch’s design.

This gorgeous Universal Geneve Polerouter de Luxe 18K gold wristwatch stands out for its timeless beauty, being an exclusive piece for any lover of quality designs.

Universal Watches – History

The Swiss watchmaker company Universal Genève S.A. was founded in 1894 as Universal Watch Company by Ulysse Perret and Numa-Emile Descombes. Although in the beginning the workshop was located in Le Locle, in 1919 it moved to Geneva. Then the company changed its commercial name and included the city’s name too. From the first days the firm made high-quality and luxury watches and were internationally renowned for their quality manufacture, design and craftsmanship. The company also makes historical claim for producing the first chronographic wristwatch in 1917. Today the firm is still a worldly-renowned company in the field of luxury and quality watches.
