Very rare 18K-gold quarter repeater pocket watch by Jean Robert, made in Switzerland circa 1770 and in good working order. The watch is finely preserved and shows a great design, as uncommon as beautiful. The gold casing has a glass front cap framed by small-sized pearls. Under the glass, the white dial has black Roman numerals and Louis-XV-style hand, showing also the manufacturers name, Jean Robert Soret. Robert was a watchmaker who worked in Soret, Switzerland between 1740 and 1780. The front cap is embellished with a surprising translucent blue-enamel finish, vibrant and bright. Under the finish we can see the shape of a delicate hand-engraved flower. The gorgeous verge-fusee movement is in great condition; it bears the watchmakers name and city engraved by hand, together with the serial number. This rare 18K-gold quarter-repeating pocket watch by Jean Robert is a unique piece for its outstanding design and good working order. Dimensions: Width 48 mm. Weight: 86.22 g.
