Antique French navaja, folding knife or pocketknife by Girodias, 11.18 inches long and made in Thiers, France in the 19th century. This is an exclusive piece for its beauty, its good condition and its remarkably ancient age. The blade bears the manufacturers mark, GIRODIAS, in capital letters and with a logo which looks like a lamp. This brand started out in 1889, when Juan Bautista Girodias Chavral and his son Pedro Luis requested their brand to be registered in Spain. The handle mounts the classic horn and brass side plates which can usually be seen in these pieces of cutlery. Two of the horn plates are decorated with handmade vegetal motifs, delicate and elegant. The horn pieces are separated by brass elements, and the handles end is adorned with a brass piece composed of circles. The pocketknife mounts a clip-point blade, also in fine condition and with scarcely any signs of wear. This beautiful French pocketknife by Girodias, 11.81 inches long, is a very attractive item and a really ancient piece, ideal for collectors. Dimensions: Length: Closed: 6.69 in / 17 cm.
