Atlas Abreviado o Compendiosa Geographia del Mundo Antiguo y Nuevo. 1709, Amberes. III Edition. The title of this book means Brief Atlas or Compendium of Geographia of the Old and New World. Original book written in Castilian, antique Spanish, which gives us a view of the world geography from the beginning of the XVIII century. It has a first page with an illuminated drawing, and is no doubt a very rare book as it is illustrated with 42 hand-colored maps: 41 double-page and two pull-down ones of three pages, one of the world and another one depicting the sky. The maps are drawn with big detail, showing the different countries with their orography and also with drawings and shields. The book has leather binding and shows signs of use, but is in relative good condition if we consider the age of publication. Back with title: Atlas, decorated with golden floral designs which contribute highly to its beauty. It shows signs of dampness and minor xylophagous marks at the bottom of some pages, which can be seen in the photograpgs. Discover through this Atlas how geography was seen more than two centuries ago. Measurements: 19 x 12,5 cm
