"Description et Usage D'un Cabinet de Physique experimental in Fond Sigaud, published in Paris in 1775. This is the first edition of the first book of an edition of two books. It was originally written in French. The work is a description of the physical devices and processes used in experimental science in the second half of the eighteenth century. This is a good copy of the first limited Edition, and this provides more interest to this book. It has been kept in good condition, with red cuts, covers are covered with brown skin that shows use with light chipping in the area near the spine. It shows five nerves among which we can read the title in golden letters, the decoration and also Morocco labels. It contains 23 interesting folding engraved plaques illustrating a wide range of optical, electrical, chemical, meteorological and scientific instruments. The internal document shows tight and firm, pages are spotted with small, brown stain and a bit rough because of humidity, though they show a general good condition. French scientific Fond Sigaud (1730-1810) started his medical career as an obstetrics doctor. As he was studying, he assisted to Abate Nolet lectures, while studying for his medical degree, he had faithfully attended lectures given by the famous Abbé Nollet, who awakened in him a keen interest in experimental science, so he finally gave up medicine. In 1760 he succeeded Abad Nollet and became a teacher in Lois le-Grand in Paris, dedicated to the teaching of experimental science, anatomy and physiology. In 1770 he became professor of surgery at the School of Saint-Come. In 1772 he returned to Bourges, where, after four years, he obtained a professorship in physics at the local university.
