This rare English calculator is a Britannic, made in the 1940s and in quite good condition. It is in impeccable working order: it provides a fluid and soft operation, being a quality and charming item. The machine comes in its flexible black cover, also well preserved. At the front, the cover bears a big inscription with the market name BRITANNIC printed in black letters on golden background. The inscription is crossed by the brand logo, a trident disposed from right to left. The calculator also preserves the original black iron stand with its four small rubber legs.Britannic calculators were produced bu Guys Calculating Machines Ltd, the only British manufacturer of the Odhner type pinwheel calculator. The Britannic is inspired directly in the famous Brunsviga calculator, though included some innovations patented by Frank E. Guy, one of the companys founders. Among them there was a setting-lever clearer device for reseting the levers with just a single movement; they also embodied an interlocking mechanism and a new barrel design that gave greater rigidity to the setting levers. In 1939 the Muldivo Calculating Machine Co. Ltd bought the company and kept on producing calculators based in Thales arithmometers until 1969.This solid and attractive vintage calculator is in quite good condition, with the black enamel that covers the metal body almost intact except for some slight signs of wear due to the time and use. To the left of the digit levers we can see a white inscription indicating the brands name, the company (Muldivo) and the manufacturer (Guys Calculating Machines Ltd.), as well as the factorys address. The digits are engraved in the metal and painted red and white; these colors are as bright and vivid as the first day. Under the levers, at the right corner we can see the engraved number IBT 3113 painted white. This smart Britannic calculating machine is a rare and exclusive item in perfect working order. It is a real object of desire for any lover of vintage calculators.Measurements: Width: 320 mm. Height: 150 mm.
