The calculator we can see in these images is a Thales CER 3 made in Germany in 1938. It is a very interesting piece that boasts a great condition and an impeccable working order. This beautiful pinwheel machine can perform the four basic arithmetic operations neatly and rapidly, and it is a real pleasure to work with it. It has black-enameled metal sheet body and is in very good condition. All its component parts are original, making up a simple and functional design. At the top left corner of the machine we can see the logo of the brand Thales and the word Patent. Thales calculators were designed and produced by Emil Schubert (1883-1953), who after working for Triumphator decided to found his own factory in Rastatt, Germany. Schubert launched several version of the Thales calculator from 1911 on. In 1924 he also started commercializing an adding machine called Tasma. At the back of this calculator we can see a sticker with the Thales logo printed in red and a series of data that indicate that the machine was made for the French market. If we turn it upside down we will see the name Thales (the T and the H are missing) engraved in the metal together with part of a serial number: 3268/1. Last but not least, the numbers engraved at the front are neatly painted white and stand out on the black metal background. They are in perfect condition too. This vintage Thales calculator can be the best accessory to decorate a smart study or desk.
