Amazing vintage Thales calculator made in 1953. This machine was manufactured in Germany and is robust and reliable, working just like the first day of use. The calculator comes in its original cardboard box and it has a flexible white sleeve in almost impeccable condition. The machine has been scarcely used and is a collectors piece, worthy of a technology museum with pieces from the 20th century. It has a grey-enameled metal sheet case with engraved numbers and inscriptions that have been painted yellow and white.Thales calculators are pinwheel machines built following the Odhner systems design. Thales brand was registered by Emil Schubert, a former Thriumphator worker. In the factory he became familiar with the system so he decided to open his own company in Rastatt, Germany. There he produced different models of the Thales calculator from 1911 on. The Tasma add.list machine started being produced in 1924 and was another Thales design. This particular calculator, in excellent condition, is model CER. Soon after its launching, Thales produced model CER-D that included a printer and a paper roll. Nevertheless this model was not very successful. At the rear of the machine we can see the model (CER) and the serial number 127309 engraved in the metal. At the front, to the left of the digit levers the name Thales is engraved and painted white with the classic signature of the brand. It is located just over the word PATENT. As well as the shiny mobile component parts made of silvery metal, the calculator has pointers and handles made of red, white and black bakelite that create a nice color combination together with the grey metal and the white and yellow enamel. On the other hand, the carboard box is well preserved and the flexible cover designed to protect the machine is in optimal condition. This Thales calculator from the 1950s is a collectors piece that preserves all its original beauty and charm.
