This fine manual calculator is a Hannovera machine, a reliable and efficient device that is still in perfect working order. This is an original design from the 1930s, made in Germany and in very good condition. It is a pinwheel calculator, similar to the aritmomether that W. T. Odhner developed in the second half of the 19th century from the original design by Leibniz. It can precisely perform the four basic arithmetic operations , and at the same time is an original antique with a strong decorative power. These calculators were manufactured by the Hannovera Rechenmaschinenfabrik, Oventrop, Heutelbeck & Co., located in Hannover. Inspired in Odhners design, they are noted for their robustness and reliability. This brand produced many models of the same design, being the most remarkable one the Hannovera B with its twenty digits. In 1933 the patent of the Hannovera calculator was acquired by a Swiss company and the machine changed its name to Demos, and later to Eos. The calculators kept on being produced until the 1960s. The machine that we can see in these images is in very good condition, boasting a well-preserved black enamel finish covering the metal case. This finish looks smooth and even, and on its glossy surface we can see the name and logo of the brand, HANNOVERA, together with the serial number Nº8043. At the back of the calculator there is a printed inscription in orange lettering with the manufacturing companys name and city of location. The machine stands on the original base, made of oak plywood. Screwed to the left edge of the base we can see the original brass handle designed to carry the calculator. A nostalgic and charming piece, this antique calculator will shine on an elegant office desk.
