Stunning Brunsviga 13 RK calculator with light-colored hammered-finished metal case and dark red bakelite pointers. This is a beautiful machine made in the 1950, working by a pinwheel system and that can perform the four basic arithmetic operations. The calculator works perfectly, and the user will find it pleasing to operate because of its fluid touch and reliability. The mobile component parts, made of chrome-plated metal, are original and look great: shiny, smooth and with no traces of rust. In general, this calculator is a collectors piece perfect to decorate a desk or bookcase. Brunsviga calculators are a real benchmark in the field of manual calculating machines. Grimme, Natalis & Co., a manufacturer of sewing machines and domestic appliances, acquired the patent of Odhners arithmometer in 1892 and started making its own calculator under the Brunsviga name. This name is actually the Latin toponym of the city where the factory was located (Braunschweig, Germany). The engineer Franz Trinks was responsible for the development and improvement of Brunsviga machines; series 13, the one this calculator belongs to, appeared in 1927. Model 13 RK was made and commercialized from 1952 to 1964, becoming the most successful and popular calculator of the brand. In the images we can see the logo with the word BRUNSVIGA engraved in black lettering in a metal sheet screwed at the front of the machine, to the left of the digit levers. In the bottom left corner there is an engraved inscription with the brand name and the city of location. On the other hand, at the calculators base we can see two small metal plates with engraved inscriptions: serial number 13 62230 and the model, Brunsviga 13 RK. Because of its history and attractive look, this calculator will be a great gift for a collector of original antique machines.
