This gorgeous calculator is a pinwheel machine made in the 1920s, restored and in perfect working order. It is a Trins Brunsviga MR calculator, a model that was produced between 1921 and 1924. The machines serial number, 46252, indicates that it was one of the last models produced under that name so we can assume that it was manufactured in 1924. The piece has been carefully restored it is in good condition and is a very decorative article. It works wonderfully and lets the user perform the four basic arithmetic operations in a fully reliable way. At the front left side of the machine we can see the brand TRINKS BRUNSVIGA and the logo clearly enameled in white. The brand appeared in 1892, when Grimme, Natalis & Co., Braunschweig, Germany bought the patents for the Odhner calculators. The company started producing and marketing their own designs under the Brunsviga market name; this was the Latin for Braunschweig. The name Trinks associated to the brand Brunsviga corresponds to Franz Trinks, an engineer that developed the different models and implemented successive improvements until 1926. This solid and sturdy calculator is made of black-enameled metal, chrome-plated component parts and bakelite knobs. All the pieces are original and remain in very good condition. The machine stands on a mahogany wooden base that still preserves parts of its finish. The wooden cover that protects the calculator is also the original one, a beautiful light colored wooden design. It preserves the carrying metal handle, the metal keyhole cover, the lock and the key; they are all original, the last two being in perfect working order. With its evocative design and perfect working order, this striking antique calculator is a charming piece with an outstanding personality.
