Fine pinwheel calculator made in the early 20th century, in excellent condition and great working order. It is a Hannovera calculator that comes from Germany, able to perform the four basic arithmetic operations fluidly and precisely. It is made of metal with black-enameled outside case, white-painted numbers and bakelite crank. All its component parts are original and work well, having survived to our days in amazing condition in spite of being almost one hundred years old. At the front of the machine we can see the brand name Hannovera Patent clearly printed on the black background, accompanied by a logo depicting an owl inside a circle. Hannovera calculators were produced by Hannovera Reschenmaschinenfabrik, Oventrop, Heutñelbeck & Co from Hannover, Germany. They are based in Odhners arithmometer. Their designer, Albert Schuhbode, decided to start making this calculator after giving up producing an Odhner type machine that had led to many conflicts over patent infringements with Brunsviga/GNC. In 1933 the calculators patent rights were acquired by a Swiss company that renamed it Demos, and later Eos. This lovely machine boasts a nice compact, sturdy and reliable design. At the top left we can see the serial number Nº 4187 clearly printed on the black case. This number is also engraved in one of the butterfly screws located on both sides of the calculator. At the back of the machine there is a long inscription in golden lettering that reproduces the companys complete name. This decal is in wonderful condition, as clear and legible as the first day. Because of its rareness and attractive design, this antique calculator is perfect to decorate an elegant desk or complete the best collection.
