This nostalgic and simple calculating machine is a Stjotmas B model (Russian Copy of the Facit calculator), a reliable and sturdy machine made in the Soviet Union in the 1950s. The calculator works so it can be used to perform the basic arithmetic operations. It has a 10-digit keyboard and keeps all its original component parts. This machine is a Soviet version of famous Facit calculator, a sales success launched in Switzerland in the 1930s. Facit AB was a company that manufactured office material. In 1922 they merged with AB Atvidabergs Industries and in 1932 they launched the FACIT, a 10-digit calculator that became great success. During the 20th century the company grew and in 1970 they employed more than 14.000 workers worldwide. In 1973, the firm was acquired by Electrolux. The machine has a hammered grey-enameled metal sheet in very good condition. The keys are made of red and black bakelite with white symbols and are also quite well preserved. If we turn the machine upside down, we will see that the base bears a red-lacquered finish with the company logo printed in black lettering. This decal is really well preserved and so is the lacquered finish, except for the central part that shows some signs of wear. This calculator is a very special machine more than half-century old, the perfect example of the quality and beauty of Soviet industrial products.
