Thales Patent Model Mez Calculator, 1930's. This is a wonderful calculator with original black lacquered case with different numbering registers. It is very well preserved aesthetically and technically, it works perfectly. Its mechanism is based on a toothed wheel that can show more or less teeth depending on the position of a lever. The white and orange enamel numerals are in very good condition. The machine has few signs of use. On the upper front part it has the logo with the name of the brand: Thales Patent, with a decorative white lettering. Also, in the lower part it has the model name: Mez, and the serial number: 42930. It is revised and in perfect working order. This type of machines are objects for science lovers. They have their origin in the XVII century, when the first adding machines were built, characterized by using a gear-based operation, which arose to alleviate the work activity of those people engaged in accounting work. This type of machines were already much admired at the time, based on a system devised by Willigodt Odhner, the variant of the one developed by Leibniz in the 18th century. Fantastic collector's item full of history!
