The machine has been overhauled and is in perfect working order, so you can use it from day one if desired. The black and white enamel numerals neatly distributed in two registers joined at the front of the piece, have the enamel intact. The maroon levers and register markers stand out, making this Brunsviga model a very beautiful piece aesthetically. Crank or windlass mechanism with several cranks on the right side and one on the left. Attached to the upper right side is a small plate with the logo of the brand used from the 1930s to the 1950s. The BRUNSVIGA mark is engraved on the lower part. On the back it has a rectangular plate with the brand, the serial number of the piece: 14-05706 and the year of manufacture: 1958. The piece attaches an original military green metallic case that facilitates its conservation. On the upper part of the case there are the same numbers as on the piece, which indicates that it is totally genuine. It is checked and in perfect working order. The Brunsviga Doppler would have been manufactured in Germany since the 1950's. It has the particularity that the two carriages it attaches to each other and move as one, but there are separate compensation controls for each register. Numbers can be fed directly into the accumulator via a set of small rubber-tired wheels at the front of the carriage. In addition the rotors and counters of the two machines can be adjusted independently to rotate in the same or opposite direction, allowing several operations to be performed at once. This one in particular was used by the German army for its calculations. Provenance: German Army. This type of machines are objects for science lovers. They have their origin in the 17th century, when the first adding machines were built, characterized by using a gear-based operation, which arose to alleviate the work activity of those people dedicated to accounting work. This type of machines were already much admired at the time, based on a system devised by Willigodt Odhner, the variant of the one developed by Leibniz in the 18th century. The German engineer Franz Trinks was the technical director of the Grimme, Natalis & Co factory in Brunswick (Germany). In 1892 he was granted a patent for the well-known Odhner machines to be marketed in Germany, Belgium and Switzerland under the brand name Brunsviga. In a short period of time, more than 500 machines were sold, mainly due to their reliability and low price. More than 500,000 machines were manufactured in various models. Without a doubt, the Brunsviga brand became the leader in the sale of calculating machines in Germany, without stopping production even during the two world wars. In the post-war period, industrial design was applied to these machines for the first time, developing technologically advanced models at high prices. In 1957 the Olympia factory of calculating machines bought 35% of the shares of the Brunsviga company, finally acquiring all of them in 1958. Machines of the Brunsviga brand were manufactured until 1964, when the entry into the market of electronic machines finally put an end to this prosperous factory.Measures: 17 x 48 cm Magnificent and special German calculator loaded with military history!
