Fine French calculating machine made in 1922 by a popular French brand: Ateliers Vaucanson. It is a famous model which became a best-seller in France between 1920 and 1930. This machine has come to us in very good condition and perfect working order. It is made of black-lacquered iron and it has some inscriptions in high relief, painted gold: the logo with the name of the brand, VAUCANSON, and the model, Type AVA123. Types AVA13 and AVB13 are the most remarkable among Vaucanson machines. The calculator works perfectly, very softly. It operates with the Odhner calculation system, based on the principle of the variable pinwheel. The black paint that covers the iron is in good condition, showing only slights signs of wear, merely perceptible. The silvery metal gears look clean and polished, and they are in perfect working order. The excellent preservation of the pieces made of black bakelite is also remarkable, and so is the golden paint which enhances the embossed numbers and lettering. The machine works like new. The attractive combination between the black paint and the golden numbers and letters turns this machine into a fine example of industrial machinery from the 1920s. Its great condition and working order make of it a real collectors item, which joins together beauty and functionality. It will undoubtedly be the perfect complement for the most elegant study, and also for the best collection of industrial antiques and curious items from the beginning of the 20th century.
