Original red-lacquered calculator, made in Germany in the 1930s. It was made by Triumphator brand, one of the most well-known and prestigious companies which made calculating machines during the 20th century. The firm was founded in 1900 under the name of Triumphator-Werk, in the German town of Leipzig, and its calculators became very popular in Europe. In 1901, the company changed its name for Triumphatorwerk G,bH Leipzig-Lindenau. After the II World War, the East German government took over the company and continued making calculators until 1965. Curiously enough, the founder of Thales (another famous brand that made calculating machines) worked for some years for Triumphator-Werk before he started his own business. This calculator is very good looking, and is also a very special item because of its nice and rare red color. On the front we can see the logo of the brand TRIUMPHATOR in low relief. The serial number and the model are engraved at the rear: 198202 CN1. The whole machine is painted red except for the rear panel, a plate covered in red material that can be removed to reach the mechanism. The numbers are painted in cream and green, and are also in low relief. All the gears and levers work perfectly. The red paint is in very good condition. The bakelite knobs, painted imitating light wood, are also highly remarkable. Beside the serial number we can see a label with the acronym DDR, which indicates that this machine was made in the former Democratic German Republic. There is also a big number (1) and the number of registration: REG.NR.00.256. All these details enhance this calculator and are faithful testimonies of those years. Overall, it is an original and rare item from the 1930s, as decorative as historical and full of vintage charm. Measurements: Width: 330 mm. Height: 140 mm.
