German Calculator Brunsviga Model 13 RK. Years 50. In Good Condition and Working

Beautiful Brunsviga calculator model 13 RK, made in the late 1950s by German company Olympia Werke A. G. This company fused with Grimme, Natalis and Co. from Braunschweig in 1959. Grimme, Natalis and Co. had obtained the German patent of Odnhers pinwheel calculating machine, and had started to make similar ones under the name of Brunsviga. After the fusion, the new firm adopted the name of Olympia and continued making Brunsviga calculators until the beginning of the 1970s, as they were very popular. All these details tell us that this calculator is a real pioneer, made by a prestigious company and whose popularity became worldwide. The machine is in very good condition: the grey enamel which covers it is perfectly preserved, and the dark red bakelite handles and knobs shine like the first day. The contrast between the two colors provides the calculator with a charming and decorative industrial touch. The machine works well except for one of its gears which is disengaged. Nevertheless, its function can also be performed by the frontal knob located in the front of the machine, at the bottom. As well as the name of the machine, written in white and red baquelite letters on the front side of the calculator (left of the numbers), at the rear there is a plate with the companys name and location: Olympia Werke AG Brunsviga Werke Braunschweig Made in Germany. It we turn the machine upside down we will see two small metal plate attached to the metal. One of them shows the serial number (13-85804) and the other has the model written on it: Brusnviga 13 RK. One more detail which is the finishing touch for this great vintage calculator, which can be the perfect gift for any lover of curious and rare antiques. Measurements: 280 mm width x 160 mm height.
