Beautiful, antique Schubert calculator NEW in its box, in immaculate, unused condition. The calculator is the brand's DRV model and is presented in mint condition, as beautiful and functional as when it left the factory. This is an iconic model that went into production in 1953; this greenish-gray hammered enamel version was released in the 1960s. The calculator is a mechanical model with a winding system, a mechanism developed in the late 19th century by W.T. Odhner that allows the four basic arithmetic operations to be performed with flawless results. The calculator bears the Schubert brand logo engraved and enameled in white. The name comes from Emil Schubert, a German engineer who together with Max Mueller launched the Thales calculator (an iconic brand) in 1911. After various vicissitudes, Schubert lost control and patents on his brands. In 1938 he started a new business under his own name, which remained active from the end of World War II until the late 1960s. Next to the logo we can see the grooves with the red and white enameled numerals and the levers with green bakelite finials. The rest of the pointers are also made of this material, which together with the enamel creates a very contemporary effect. The crank handle is of varnished wood, also in perfect condition. On the back of the calculator we can see a metal plate fixed with rivets to the case. On it appears the name of the brand and the city where the factory was located, Rastatt. Engraved on the metal we see the model, DRV, and the serial number 1/2117. Because of its impeccable condition and attractive aesthetics, this new and unused antique Schubert calculator deserves a special place in a collection or an office.
