Antique Rema calculator in excellent working order, made in Germany in the 1920s. This fine machine is an iconic piece, with a fine classic design and that makes it possible to perform the four basic arithmetical operations in a fluid and accurate way. The calculator mounts a pinwheel mechanism similar to the one developed by W.T. Odhner in the late 19th century based on Leibnizs arithmometer. The mechanism is protected by a black-enameled metal casing with white inscriptions and numbers. The enameled finish has been restored in some points but globally it is in quite good condition. At the left of the metal casing we can see the brand name Rema in a stylish diagonal signature. Fabrik Rema GmbH was a mechanical calculator factory located in Braunschweig, Germany. In 1922 the brand was taken over by the powerful Brunsviga, but during the following years model Rema I kept on being produced under this name. The black enameled finish that covers the casing is well preserved and only shows slight signs of wear that provide the machine with personality. The silvery-metal mobile component parts are in great condition and move fluidly. This striking antique Rema calculator stands out for its good working order and attractive look. Is the ideal gift for any lover of turn-of-the-century mechanical antiques.
